It is an offence1 to take2 or intentionally kill3 deer of any species and description specified in the Deer Act 1991 during the close season thereby prescribed4. This offence, however, is not committed when:
(1) farmed deer are killed during the close season by their keeper or his servants or agents5; or
(2) one of a specified class of persons6 takes or kills any deer by shooting it, or in an attempt to do so, injures any
