Regulations have been made implementing an EU Directive1 which lays down rules and measures to combat African horse sickness2. The regulations set out the steps to be taken to notify suspected cases of African horse sickness in a horse or carcase3 and the measures to be taken to investigate and confirm suspected cases4. Specific provisions are made dealing with suspected cases of African horse sickness found at slaughterhouses5 and in non-captive horses6.
