164. Welfare of animals in transit and at markets.

Provision is made for the protection of animals, including farm animals, during transport1, under which it is required that:


    (1)     no person may transport animals or cause animals to be transported in a way likely to cause injury or undue suffering to them2;


    (2)     transported animals are fit for the journey3;


    (3)     arrangements are made to minimise the length of the journey and meet the animals' needs during the journey4;


    (4)     the means of transport and loading and unloading facilities are designed, constructed, maintained and operated so as to avoid injury and suffering and ensure the safety of the
