Provision for health and safety in agricultural operations is contained in the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 and the various schemes made thereunder1. Most of those schemes apply to particular specified industries but of those that are generally applicable, the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 19922 and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 19983 are of particular significance to agriculture. These regulations make provision in connection with:
(1) the use of the workplace by disabled persons4;
(2) the maintenance, cleaning and inspection of the workplace, its equipment and its systems5;
(3) the stability
