Provision is made by EU legislation, implemented in the UK by statutory instrument, for the authorisation, labelling and control of feed additives1. The statutory instruments make it an offence for a person to contravene or fail comply with such EU provisions that regulate additives for use in animal nutitutrion2 and which concern the following3:
(1) the prohibition on placing on the market, processing or using a feed additive unless it is covered by an authorisation and satisfies relevant conditions4;
(2) the restriction on the persons who may first place on the market certain additives5;
