Where a contract of tenancy1 provides for the maintenance of specified land, or a specified proportion of the holding, as permanent pasture2 the landlord3 or the tenant4 may by written notice served on the other party demand a reference to arbitration or third party determination5 of the question whether it is expedient in order to secure the full and efficient farming6 of the holding that the area of land required to be maintained as permanent pasture should be reduced7.
