The tenant1, or all the tenants in the case of a joint tenancy, may serve on the landlord2 a notice (the 'retirement notice')3 indicating, in whatever terms, his or their wish that a single eligible person4 named in the notice succeed him or them as from the date specified in the notice5. In addition to being a tenancy to which the general provisions as to succession apply6, it must be a tenancy from year to year7.
