522. Right to compensation for old improvements.

A tenant1 under the Agricultural Holdings Act 1986 has a statutory right2 on the termination of his tenancy3 and upon quitting the holding4 to obtain from his landlord5 compensation for specified improvements6 carried out on the holding and begun before 1 March 19487. Such improvements are termed 'old improvements'8.

The tenant does not have a right to compensation in respect of old improvements where the contract of tenancy9 was made before 1 January 192110 and the improvement was one which he was required to carry out by the terms of his tenancy
