For the purposes of the provisions relating to succession on death or retirement1 'eligible person' means any surviving close relative (in the case of death) of the deceased tenant2 or (in the case of retirement) the nominated successor3 of the retiring tenant4 whom:
(1) in the seven years ending with the date of the death or retirement5 derived his only or principal source of livelihood for a continuous period of at least five years, or for two or more discontinuous periods together amounting to at least five years, from his agricultural work
