A 'contract of tenancy' is a letting of land, or an agreement1 for letting land, for a term of years2 or from year to year3, and a letting or an agreement converted into a letting or agreement for 90 years4 is deemed to be a letting of, or an agreement for letting, land for a term of years5. It does not include an attornment clause in a mortgage6. There must be a single contract of tenancy7.
