Unless the contract of tenancy otherwise provides, a tenant1 to whom land2 has been let by a London borough or district or, in Wales, a county or county borough council3 under its power in relation to unoccupied land4 and whose tenancy is terminated by the termination of the council's right of occupation, is entitled to recover from the council such compensation, if any, as would have been recoverable if his tenancy had been terminated by notice to quit given by the council, and has the same right to remove his crops as if the tenancy had been so terminated
