A London borough, district, parish, or, in Wales, county, county borough or community council1 may, where no power of appropriation is otherwise provided, appropriate for its other purposes land2 acquired by it for allotments3. A district council or, in Wales, a county or county borough council4 may, where it considers it is necessary or expedient to do so for the better carrying into effect of the applicable legislation5 and where no power of appropriation is otherwise provided, appropriate for any of its other purposes land acquired by it under that legislation6.
