661.     Acquisition of land for future allotments.

A district or London borough council, or, in Wales, a county or county borough council1, may acquire land for allotments2, notwithstanding that the land or any part of it cannot immediately be let in allotments, if the Secretary of State or the Welsh Ministers3 is or are satisfied that there is a reasonable expectation that the land will eventually be required for allotments4.
