165. General liability of agent for wrongful act.

Any agent, including a public agent1, who commits a wrongful act2 in the course of his employment, is personally liable3 to any third person who suffers loss or damage thereby4, notwithstanding that the act was expressly authorised or ratified by the principal5, unless it was thereby deprived of its wrongful character6. It is immaterial that the agent did the act innocently and without knowledge that it was wrongful
