Delegation of an agent's authority is also permissible1 if it is in accordance with a reasonable custom or usage of trade2. Thus a master of a foreign ship may be justified in delegating the signing of a charterparty to a shipbroker3, and a country solicitor may employ his town agent, who has power to bind the client in the ordinary course4.
