83 Air pollution in the minerals industry

Air pollution at mines or quarries is regulated under the provisions of the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016. Activities requiring an environmental permit include crushing or grinding of stone (but not stone cutting) or the grading, screening or heating of any minerals (unless it is unlikely to result in the release of particulate matter into the air)1.
