57 Other covenants in mineral leases

Other covenants usually found in mineral leases include covenants as to repair, compensation for surface damage, the keeping of accounts and plans and inspection of them and of the workings by the landlord, and the removal of machinery during or at the end of the term1. The covenant against assignment may be qualified by the requirement for an authorised guarantee agreement under the Landlord and Tenant (Covenants) Act 1995 but major operators are unlikely to agree to this.
