The rules of law applicable to contracts for the sale of land apply generally to contracts concerning mines and minerals because mines and minerals are part and parcel of the land1. Thus, the requirements as to writing and signature imposed by the Law of Property (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1989 Section 22, and the need to protect by registration under the Land Charges Act 19723 or the Land Registration Act 20024, apply to a contract for the sale of mines or minerals or a right to enter land and dig for and take
