2 Statutory regulation of mines, quarries and landfills

The working of mines and quarries has over the years been the subject of a growing body of legislation. Many aspects of safety and operations are now primarily covered by statutory instruments made under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974. The majority of these were consolidated in the Quarries Regulations 19991.
