5 Creation of market under the Animal Health Act 1981

Certain local authorities1 may, under the Animal Health Act 1981, provide, erect and fit up wharves, stations, lairs, sheds and other places for the landing, reception, keeping, sale, slaughter or disposal of imported or other animals, carcases, fodder, litter, dung and other things2. The provisions of the Markets and Fairs Clauses Act 1847 are incorporated subject to exceptions3 and a wharf or other place provided by the local authority is a market within that Act4.
