4 Creation of market under the Food Act 1984

Under the Food Act 1984 Section 501, a local authority2 may establish a market within its area, or may acquire by agreement (but not otherwise), either by purchase or on lease, the whole or any part of an existing market undertaking3 within its area, and any rights enjoyed by any person within its area in respect of a market and of tolls4.
