64 Copying by librarians etc—replacement copies of works

Subject to compliance with the prescribed conditions, a librarian, archivist or curator of a library, archive or museum may, without infringing copyright, make a copy of any item in the permanent collection of the institution in question either:

  1. 64.1

        to preserve or replace that item in that collection; or

  2. 64.2

        to replace in the permanent collection of another library, archive or museum which is not conducted for profit1 an item that has been lost, destroyed or damaged2.

The prescribed conditions are as follows:
