5 Country of first publication

A literary, dramatic, musical or artistic work, sound recording or film or typographical arrangement of a published edition qualifies for copyright protection if it is first published in:

  1. 5.1

        the United Kingdom1; or

  2. 5.2

        another country to which the relevant provisions of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 Part I extend2; or

  3. 5.3

        any other country to which an Order made under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 Section 159 relates3.

The publication of a work can still be regarded as first publication for the above purposes even though it is simultaneously published elsewhere
