42 Transitional provisions

For acts done prior to 1 August 1989, the provisions of the Copyright Act 1956 apply in so far as they are not statute barred under the Limitation Act 19801.

Where copies of sound recordings, films or computer programs were acquired before 1 August 1989 for the purpose of renting those copies to the public, that rental will not amount to the restricted act of rental of the work to the public2.
