Copyright law has evolved mainly to control dealings with physical copies of copyright works so it is not surprising that online publishing has raised many questions as to the applicability of traditional copyright protection and the need for reform. In particular, publishing over the Internet highlights the problems of adapting existing copyright laws to new technology.
