163 The intellectual property rights Enforcement Directive

A significant recent development has been the implementation of Directive 2004/48/EC on the enforcement of intellectual property rights (the ‘Enforcement Directive’) by the Intellectual Property (Enforcement, etc) Regulations1. The Enforcement Directive’s aim is to harmonise civil measures and procedures for enforcement of intellectual property rights across the European Community.

The implementing regulation makes a number of changes to most forms of UK intellectual property. However, the changes made to the main forms of UK intellectual property are limited and minor.
