57 Japan: term of protection

The duration of the term of copyright protection begins on creation of the work and continues to subsist until 50 years following the date of death of the author, or the last surviving co-author in respect of a joint work1. In the case of an anonymous or pseudonymous work the term expires 50 years after the work has been published2.
