39 China: term of protection

No time limit is set on the term of protection of an author’s right of authorship, right of revision and right to protect the integrity of their work1. In relation to a copyright work created by an individual (other than a work created in the course of employment), the term of protection is the life of the author and 50 years after their death expiring on 31 December of the fiftieth year after their death. In the case of joint works the period is calculated from the date of death of the last surviving author2.
