356 Prints and advertising commitment

From a producer’s point of view it is also important to obtain from the distributor a commitment to spend a predetermined amount on advertising the film and to provide a certain number of prints for theatrical release. A producer will, wherever possible, obtain a commitment from a distributor to release the film theatrically on a specified number of screens; this will involve the distributor in a substantial financial commitment to the film which can only be recovered if the film is successful.
