336 Advertising sponsorship and barter

Other potential methods of financing productions include raising finance by means of barter/syndication type arrangements. These types of arrangement involve the producer in finding a sponsor who will bear the cost of producing television programming. The ownership of all rights in the finished programming passes to the sponsor who has the right to insert advertising at commercial breaks in the programming, which is then distributed free to television stations who have the right to sell other advertising slots in the programming. Obviously, this is not a suitable method for financing a period action adventure series
