The function of the director of a film or television production generally does not have the same variety of meanings as that of a producer. The services of a director generally involve the development with the screenwriter of the screenplay, the direction of the cast and crew and the creation of the final edited version of the film. Moral rights1 extend to the director of a film or television production but not the producer. Frequently, a director will render services in more than one capacity.
