In order to draw up the budget, the producer of a film needs to know precisely how many days’ availability he will require for each member of the cast, each member of the production team and all equipment. The production schedule must, therefore, be created, itemising every single requirement.

In order to complete the production schedule, the producer will require details of all locations to be used in the film. It is the task of the producer or production manager to cost out every potential location, paying particular regard to travel distance and travel time which will increase
