20 Brazil: authorship ownership and transfer of copyright and registration of copyright

Law No. 9.610 of 19 February 1998 on Copyright and Neighbouring Rights provides reciprocal protection for works originating in other states which provide protection for works originating in Brazil1. It protects the following 13 categories of intellectual works, whatever their mode of expression or the medium in which they are fixed, whether or not the medium is tangible or intangible or is now known or invented in the future2:

  1. 20.1

        literary, artistic or scientific works;

  2. 20.2

        lectures, addresses, sermons and other works of the same kind;

  3. 20.3

        dramatic
