160 Permitted acts in relation to libraries and archives and public administration

The Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 contains provisions permitting librarians and archivists in libraries or archives prescribed by the Secretary of State to make copies of copyright works in specified circumstances, permitting them to rely upon signed declarations made by persons to whom they supply copies, and stipulating that any person making a false declaration is liable for infringement of copyright1.
