151 Former provisions relating to copyright in cinematograph films under Copyright Act 1911

Cinematograph films made between 1 July 1912 and 31 May 1957 were the subject of three separate and overlapping types of copyright protection:

  1. 151.1

        As a dramatic work: ‘Dramatic work’ included any piece for recitation, choreographic work or entertainment in dumb show, a scenic arrangement or acting the form of which was fixed in writing or otherwise and any cinematograph production where the arrangement or acting form or the combination of incidents represented gave the work an original character1. The 1911 Act did not contain any provision
