146 Former Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 provisions relating to copyright in sound recordings

The Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 provided that copyright in sound recordings, including soundtracks accompanying films, made between 1 July 1912 and 31 May 1957 subsisted for a period of 50 years from the end of the calendar year in which the recording was made1.

The 1988 Act provided that copyright subsisting2 in a published sound recording or film soundtrack made on or after 1 June 1957 but before 1 August 1989 continued until the end of the period of 50 years from the end
