12 Marrakesh Visually Impaired Persons Treaty

The objective of the Marrakesh VIP Treaty is to facilitate access to published works by visually impaired persons in order to permit such persons to benefit from the positive impact of new information and communication technologies while recognising the need to maintain a balance between the effective protection of the rights of authors and the larger public interest particularly education and access to information. The United Kingdom signed the VIP Treaty on 28 June 2013 but as at 1 August 2014 the Treaty had not come into force.
