114 Legal deposit laws generally

Many countries have legislation requiring producers of publications to deposit their work in designated institutions in order to preserve and maintain their culture, heritage and social life for future generations and to provide free access and unrestricted use of this source of material for educational and research purposes. Most countries require the deposit of all printed works produced within the country and many countries are revising legislation to extend requirements to cover non-print and electronic materials.
