109 Council Directive (EC) 2009/24 on the legal protection of computer programs (codified version)

Council Directive (EC) 2009/24 provides that all computer programs are to be protected under copyright law as literary works1. A computer program is protected if it is original in the sense that it is the author’s own intellectual creation2. The ideas and principles which underlie any element of a computer program including its interfaces are not protected by copyright3.
