108 Council Directive (EC) 2006/116 on the term of protection of copyright and certain related rights (codified version)

Council Directive (EC) 2006/1161 harmonises the term of copyright throughout the European Union at 70 years after the death of the author, and contains the usual associated provisions relating to works of joint authorship, anonymous or pseudonymous works, collective works and part works2. The Directive provides that the principal director of a cinematographic or audio-visual work will be considered to be the author, or one of the authors of the work and leaves European Union member states free to designate other co-authors3.
