10 Beijing Treaty: term of protection, anti-circumvention measures and rights management provisions

The term of protection of the economic rights provided by the Beijing Treaty on Audio-visual Performances is the period ending 50 years from the end of the year in which the performance is fixed1. The Treaty has been signed in a single original in English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish and each language version is expressed to be ‘equally authentic’2.

Contracting states are required to provide adequate legal protection and effective legal remedies against the circumvention of effective technological measures in respect of performances that are not authorised
