8.2 Advantages of listing

The main advantage of listing is the provision of an accessible market for the company’s securities, that is, the stock market, on which public and financial institutions can buy and sell those securities. As the securities are so readily realisable, they are likely to become more attractive investments. An unquoted public company’s securities are unlikely to be so attractive as they are not so ‘liquid’ that is, there is not such a ready market for them.
