167 Restrictions on reuse of company names

Section 216 of the Insolvency Act 1986 prevents a person who is a director or shadow director of a company which has gone into insolvent liquidation, without the leave of the court, being a director of another company, or being concerned directly or indirectly in the management of another company, or being concerned or taking part in the carrying on of a business, where the new company or business uses the same name, or a very similar name, to the company that went into insolvent liquidation1.
