24.2 Legal charges as registrable dispositions

The grant of a legal charge in respect of a registered estate is a disposition required to be completed by registration1 and, as such, does not operate at law until the relevant registration requirements are met2. On completion of the relevant registration requirements, a charge created by means of a registrable disposition of a registrable estate has effect, if it would not otherwise do so, as a charge by deed by way of legal mortgage3.
