23 Unregistered land

23.1 Legal charges of unregistered land

If the charge is protected by the deposit of title deeds, generally, nothing more is required to perfect title other than completion of the charge1 and registration at Companies House2 and application for first registration of title3. If the charge is unaccompanied by the deposit of title deeds (‘a puisne mortgage’), it needs to be registered as a Class C(i) land charge4.
