82 Appropriation for development

A local authority1 may be authorised, by order made by the authority and confirmed by the Secretary of State2, to appropriate, for any purpose for which that authority may be authorised to acquire land under any enactment, any land for the time being held by it for other purposes, being land which is or forms part of a common3, or fuel or field garden allotment other than Green Belt4 land5.
