3 What information must a solicitor provide in writing?

As noted above, there are certain matters that a solicitor must communicate to a client in writing. These include:

  1. 3.1

        that a client has a right to complain and how the client can make a complaint1;

  2. 3.2

        that a client has a right to complain to the Legal Ombudsman. The solicitor must provide the contact details of the Legal Ombudsman and the timescales for making a complaint2;

  3. 3.3

        the name and status of the person dealing with the client’s matter and the name and status of the person responsible for its
