270 Help line charges over basic rate1

A consumer must not be bound to pay more than the basic rate for a telephone call where:

  1. 270.1

        a trader operates a telephone line;

  2. 270.2

        the telephone line is for the purpose of consumers contacting the trader by telephone; and

  3. 270.3

        consumers will be contacting the trader concerning contracts entered into with the trader2.

Where a consumer is bound to pay more than the basic rate for such telephone calls, the contract is treated as requiring the trader to pay the consumer an amount which is in excess of
