150 General definitions and terminology applying generally

150.1 Consumer

A ‘consumer’ is defined1 as a natural person who is acting for purposes wholly or partly2 outside their trade, business, craft or profession;

However, person is not a consumer, when (applying only to those provisions in the Consumer Rights Act 2015 relating to goods)3:

  1. 150.1.1

        the goods supplied are second hand goods;

  2. 150.1.2

        the goods are sold at a public auction; and

  3. 150.1.3

        an individual has had an opportunity to attend the sale in person4.
