137 Current position

There are now two principal pieces of legislation which affect mainstream consumer transactions, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. These are largely consolidation measures; bringing together consumer-related measures from the legislation mentioned above into two legislative measures. For the Consumer Rights Act 2015, the approach is to dis-apply some provisions and in other cases to remove specific consumer provisions from other Acts mentioned above1, while the relevant statutory instruments are repealed2.
